Job Title

Events Director

Reports to

The Events Director reports to the President.

Subordinates

No positions report to the Events Director.

Objectives

The Events Director is responsible for planning, organizing and leading special events/meetings for the Chamber and the Chamber membership. Such events/meetings include: Conferences, workshops, marketing events, financial meetings, receptions, dinners, festivals and official openings.

Substitution

The Marketing Director will fill-in during an absence.

Operational Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate monthly Operations Committee and Board of Directors meetings.
Present upcoming events/meetings calendar at Operations Committee and Board of Directors meetings.
Schedule and update the Chamber’s calendar of events.
Plan, coordinate and execute the Annual Chamber Banquet and Meeting.
Manage all event sponsorships.
Work with Economic Development and Convention and Visitors Bureau to plan and coordinate the annual holiday party.
Collaborate with the planning committee to coordinate Southwest Kansas Night in Topeka, Dodge City Night in Topeka and the annual Legislative trip to Washington, D.C.
Lead the planning of the annual Chamber “More than a Bucket List” trip.
Manage the Chamber’s Leadership Dodge program and community leadership grant/incentive.
Coordinate and manage State of the City, County, College and Hospital luncheons.
Act as a support to the Ambassador Committee in planning and deploying monthly coffees, Networking@Nites, ribbon cuttings, grand openings and the annual golf tournament.
Manage the Chamber’s Dodge City Area Young Professionals committee.
Plan and deploy the Dodge City Day’s Festival.
Manage the Dodge City Day’s email account.
Ensure all events/meetings remain in budget and fiscally benefit the Chamber.
Attend community meetings and serve on community boards as the Chamber representative.
Aid in the recruitment and retention of new and existing Chamber members.
Attend and work all Chamber events.
Help with day-to-day office operations including answering phones, fielding walk in traffic, etc.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred such as, Hospitality, Communications, Public Relations, Business or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to coordinate and schedule groups and teams of people in order to reach a common goal.
Strong and professional negotiating skills.
Ability to cultivate, nurture and maintain valuable partnerships with colleagues, vendors and community members.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of finance and adhering to set budgets.
Ability to handle multiple projects while setting appropriate priorities to achieve goals.
Ability to troubleshoot problems effectively and efficiently.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Possess an exceptional amount of creativity from concept to execution of events/meetings.
Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.
